Barrier Ball® is a floating cover system for liquid bodies consisting of 5" diameter plastic spheres loaded with water (ballast).
As a whole, the spheres cover 91% of the surface forming a barrier that significantly decreases the exchange of mass
and heat between the liquid and the environment, reducing the evaporation very efficiently.
This system constitutes an insulating barrier that significantly reduces the loss of heat of the liquid, the emanation of smells and gases and the growth of algae by reducing the exposed surface and the passage of sunlight and thus photosynthesis.
In addition, eliminating the water mirror keeps wildlife away from entering the pools thus avoiding possible contaminations of the liquid or fatalities.
The Barrier Ball® spheres are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with stabilizing additives to prevent the effects of UV radiation on the material, resist the action of wind and rain. This gives our product a useful life that exceeds 20 years.
Once the service life of the spheres has been fulfilled, they are withdrawn and recycled. Part of this recycled material is used as feedstock for the manufacture of new spheres (intermediate layer) thus transforming into an environmentally friendly system by not generating plastic waste during its life cycle.
